AI Biases: Three Use Cases

As part of the Design for Science Education and Communication course, I developed three user-friendly infographics that bridge the public’s knowledge gap on AI biases in academic citations, finance, and facial recognition. Working in a two-person team, we created cohesive materials that aligned in style, composition, and content.

I researched the topic using academic sources and multimedia resources to ensure the information was accurate and clear. The infographics were designed using accessible language, for both academic and general audiences. I used Adobe Illustrator to create visuals that combined text and images smoothly.

We refined the final designs through a three-stage feedback process, getting input from science communication professionals, fellow students, and the general public to make sure the infographics were clear, engaging, and informative.

These infographics are part of the MAMMOth project, which aims to raise awareness about AI biases. They can be used as training materials for university lectures, introductory AI ethics classes, workshops, and science cafes, and are available for free download on the MAMMOth website.
